New movie experience with 3D 15.02.2012
With James Cameron’s AVATAR, if not earlier, 3D has achieved a real breakthrough in cinema.
2010, especially, has vividly shown how successful 3D movies are with cinema audiences.
At simultaneous screenings of films in 2D and 3D, over 80% of cinema goers choose the 3D version; and a stunning 100% of viewers chose to see the 3D version of films such as Step Up and Resident Evil.
15 3D movies played in local cinemas in 2010; this year sees 34 3D hit films, among them blockbusters like Pirates of the Caribbean 4, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, and Kung Fu Panda 2.
How does 3D technology work in the cinema?
3D motion pictures are shot with two parallel running cameras which are positioned a couple of centimetres apart – like our eyes. Thus, each camera records a slightly different perspective.
The footages are projected on the screen separately for the right and the left eye – either simultaneously via two film or video projectors, or as fast alternating sequences with an appropriate D-cinema projector.
Special 3D glasses allow the right eye to see only the “right“ camera and the left eye only the “left“ pictures. The brain interprets the slightly diverging separate frames as stereoscopic picture. The action on screen seems tangibly real – the 3D effect is perfect.
Your cinema spot in 3D
Not only cine films seem “within one’s grasp” through 3D technology; even cinema advertising may be an outstanding experience through stereoscopic effect. The label/the product becomes alive in its surroundings and heightens thus the well-established attention of cinema advertising. Since 2010, cinecom has exclusively been offering the option to run your cinema advertisement in 3D.
83% of viewers confirm: I equally enjoy or prefer cinema to television advertising.
